FiT for a picnic
The FiT Network, a volunteer, parent driven, non-profit society that has been keeping special needs ‘Families in Touch,’ since 2008, is having a picnic on Sunday, June 26 at Walnut Grove Park, 8939 Walnut Grove Drive.
The event is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
FiT meetings take place once a month, and members also enjoy seasonal fun events for the whole family and Casual Coffee nights that give parents of special needs children the opportunity to get in touch with parents who face challenges.
FiT Meets are an opportunity for parents to network with other parents who have special needs children. Professional guest speakers are invited to speak on various topics that will educate and empower FiT families. These evenings provide for more intimate discussions and the invaluable parent to parent support.
“We provide food, entertainment, and the chance to take their entire family out for free,” said Hayley Nimmo of the FiT Network.
“These events help parents to realize that they are not alone and that fun can be had despite their special challenges.”
The annual ‘Let’s Get FiT in a Pub’ fundraiser and silent auction is on June 18. Proceeds from this event will go towards the family events.
