Print sale to help with WOLF forest purchase
Take only photographs, leave only footprints, is what some talented Langley Fine Arts students are offering to help save Glen Valley’s McLellan forest at a photo exhibition at Watershed Arts Cafe on Dec. 6.
The event is called Outside-In: A Tribute to McLellan Forest, and will open at 6:30 p.m. with performances from LFAS writing majors and members of the community starting at 7:30 p.m.
Numerous LFAS student artists took photographs while touring the forest last month. They will reveal their prints that night.
Proceeds from the sale of any print will go to saving the forest.
On Saturday, the public is invited to visit the forest from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for the installation of tree poems written by award-winning poets from around Canada and the U.S. who responded to a call from Fort Langley’s Susan McCaslin. More than 150 poems were submitted from across the continent, even from Governor General Award winners, in a five day period. Time is running out for Watchers of Langley’s Forests to come up with the $3 million the Township is asking for the 25-acre parcel the municipality owns.
The Township has given a Dec. 17 deadline and then it will let the forest be sold.
