Fraser Valley Transplant Network Meets Feb. 7
The first Fraser Valley Transplant Network meeting of 2013 is coming up on Thursday, Feb. 7. It will be held at Langley Township Hall, 20338 65 Ave. (behind London Drugs and Walmart).
The featured speaker will be Sharon Duncan from the Solid Organ Transplant Program of B.C. Transplant.
Duncan will update the audience on recent events happening on the paired exchange front and the recent discussions around guidelines in the search for a living donor. She is hoping that her colleague, the transplant social worker, will also be there.
Also attending the meeting will be Alicia Yeung of B.C. Transplant. Alicia is the newly appointed volunteer coordinator. She will give a brief presentation on getting involved and supporting organ donation through volunteering to support the outreach programs of B.C. Transplant.
The Fraser Valley Transplant Network is a network of pre-transplant and post-transplant individuals, families and support persons. The network offers support through education, sharing experiences and answering questions. Anyone who is interested in any aspect of transplantation is encouraged to attend.
An important educational opportunity for individuals living with a transplant or expecting to have a transplant is coming up on Wednesday, Feb. 27 and will be hosted hosted at the Telus World of Science in Vancouver. Three researches will present their findings with respect to the work they are doing in the area of transplant research. The event is free and begins at 6 p.m.
Dr. Anson Cheung and Tim Keifer PhD will be the guest speakers. It promises to be an informative session, providing the audience with leading edge information.
