Growing interest in gardens
Langley Kiwanis is making sure green thumbs are grown early in the heart of Langley City.
Daycare, preschool and Kindergarten students at Douglas Park Community School will be planting and tending to a harvest of vegetables and flowers, thanks to a generous donation from Langley Kiwanis.
Langley Kiwanis donated the materials to build raised beds for a community garden behind the school.
In total, 71 children will get to enjoy the gardens, each having planted their own sunflower as well, said Dawn Adamson, director of early learning at the school.
To celebrate Earth Day, members of Langley Kiwanis were on hand to help children plant on April 22. The children entertained them with songs and served cookies and juice as a thank you.
