Langley Legion planning chicken barbecue Aug. 9

A great dinner at a great price for a great cause — what better way to celebrate summer than with a fundraising barbecue that will benefit veterans and those in need in the community?

Langley Legion Branch 21 is hosting a chicken barbecue on Saturday, Aug. 9, at 5 p.m.

The event is open to the public, and money raised will support Legion programs for veterans, seniors, youth, and community groups.

Tickets are $12 and are available at the Langley Legion, 20570 56 Ave., or by calling 604-534-3615.

For close to nine decades, the Legion has served the Langley community, supporting those who bravely risked their lives in times of conflict and raising money for local students and organizations.

All money raised by the Legion’s volunteer members through special events — such as the chicken barbecue — goes back into the community.

A non-profit organization that does not receive any government funding, the Legion relies solely on membership fees to operate.

The Langley branch is always welcoming new members, including soldiers who served in Afghanistan and other modern conflicts, and first responders. General membership can also be extended to any man or woman aged 19 or over.
