The hunt is on for B.C.'s best teen band
Youthink magazine is set to host its fourth annual B.C.’s Best Teen Band Contest, with more than $15,000 in prizes up for grabs, including a recording opportunity.
The competition gives high school bands from across the province a chance to showcase their music, connect with key players in the music industry and learn how to advance their music careers.
“BC’s Best Teen Band Contest is a wonderful chance for up-and-coming teen artists to participate in a process that will help them prepare for a potential career in the music business, said Music BC executive director Bob D’Eith.
“The way that the program is designed provides the participants with skills to prepare them for the next level in the industry.”
Prizes and opportunities for the first-place winner include:
• $2000 cash for artist development
• $500 worth of gift cards from Long & McQuade
• A recording session with Jay Evjen of Juicemix Productions at Greenhouse Studios
• A songwriting session with Shaun Verreault of Wide Mouth Mason
• The May/June cover of Youthink magazine
Earning the prestigious title of BC’s Best Teen Band has already opened the doors to some exciting opportunities for three outstanding bands – The Knots, The Archers amd Vancouver indie-folk artist Kate Kurdyak.
Bands have from now until Dec. 3 to enter at youthink.ca/bandcontest 2013. The top 10 — chosen by a panel of industry judges — will be announced in January. The public will then vote for the top three. The ultimate winner will be decided at the live finale at the Electric Owl in April 2013.
