Cyclist hit by semi and sent to jail

You would think being hit by a semi truck would be bad enough but for a 45-year-old Langley man, his bad day didn't stop there.

A Langley RCMP officer patrolling the Aldergrove area came across a man lying on the street  on Saturday. Further investigation and witness accounts indicate the man had been riding his bike south on the northbound side of the street carrying a garbage bag in one hand and a drink in the other, said Cpl. Holly Marks.

The cyclist appeared to lose control as a semi truck turned onto 56 Avenue from 264 Street.

The man was struck by the rear tire of the trailer and knocked off his bike.

The cyclist was taken to hospital for treatment of broken bones.  Further police computer checks showed the man was wanted on two outstanding arrest warrants out of Langley.

The 45 year old has been remanded and is now in jail.
