First responders remember

Hundreds of Canadian and U.S. first responders gathered at the Peace Arch Tuesday morning to remember those who died 11 years ago in a co-ordinated series of terrorist attacks in the U.S.

The moving ceremony included a vehicle procession, a colour guard, speeches and the singing of Hallelujah; the latter of which brought tears to the eyes of many attendees.

A handful of first responders from New York – where thousands of people, including hundreds of firefighters, died in Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Centre towers – joined their Canadian peers for the sombre ceremony.
