Armed bank robber smashes glass to get in, punches employee

A violent armed bank robbery on Friday has left Langley RCMP searching for the culprit.

Around 8 a.m., a man smashed the front glass of the Royal Bank at 204 Street and 88 Avenue, producing a gun in front of the employees who had just started their work day.

He then punched an employee and stole an undisclosed amount of cash. He fled on foot. The victim who was punched wasn't seriously injured, said police.

"The tracks he made in the snow suggest he fled in a vehicle," said Cpl. Holly Marks.  Police shut down 88 Avenue right after the robbery and for a couple hours searching for the robber but so far he hasn't been apprehended.

Police describe the suspect as a Caucasian man, 5 feet nine inches tall, wearing a puffy black jacket.

If you have any information about this suspect or the robbery call Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200.
