The owners of six dogs are frantic after their furry family members were apparently stolen from a dog walker's pick up truck parked at the Brookswood off-leash park on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Langley RCMP, the dog walker had taken the six dogs to the popular off leash park in the 4400 block of 206 Street and then put them all in the back of her pickup truck that has a canopy.

She left them there so she could use the washroom, said police.  When she returned around 10 minutes later, the canopy had been unlatched and all six dogs were gone. This took place around 1:30 p.m.

She searched the area for hours but wasn’t able to locate any of them, said Cpl. Holly Marks. Police attended as well and weren't able to find any trace of the dogs.

"The owners believe their dogs were taken as opposed to having escaped from the truck. The canopy had been latched and when the sitter returned, the canopy was open," said Marks.

As of Wednesday afternoon, as the paper went to press, the dogs had not been found. The owners have put out a plea and alert on the popular website Pet Searchers Canada as well.

The missing dogs are:

Salty – A border collie

Oscar – A black and brown rottweiler/husky cross

Teemo – A grey Bouvier poodle cross

Mia - A black and white pit bull

Buddy – A black and white Boston terrier

Molly – A grey and black blue heeler/Shepherd cross
