Langley schools will be behind picket lines again on Monday

Langley schools will behind picket lines again on Monday, with parents having to find alternative care for their children again.

Teachers in Langley were on strike on Tuesday, joined by several other districts in the B.C. Teachers' Federation's rotating strike action.

The BCTF had threatened that job action will continue while the B.C. government has threatened to lock out teachers in the future.

Contract talks have not gone well and it is currently unknown how the continued battle between teachers and the government will impact high school students provincial exams.

In Walnut Grove, the district elementary track meet held every year at the track at Walnut Grove Secondary has been cancelled for Friday.

One parent called the Times frustrated, saying her son, who is in Grade 7 was really looking forward to the afternoon competition.

But because teachers are not participating in anything during recess or lunch hours, the meet had to be cancelled, parents have been told.

It's not clear how this strike will impact upcoming grad and end of school events.
