BREAKING: Heavy police presence in downtown Langley

Police say a stolen vehicle was dumped near the elementary school and the suspect fled on foot.

There is a heavy police presence in downtown Langley Wednesday afternoon after a stolen truck was dumped near the school and the suspect fled on foot.

Both ghost vehicles and marked RCMP cars descended on the area around Douglas Rec Centre at 204 Street and Douglas Crescent around 3:20 p.m.

Currently, there are police vehicles with flashing lights positioned along Douglas Crescent and side streets. A police dog was attempting to track down the suspect without success around 3:30 p.m.

Several witnesses said RCMP’s Air One helicopter was also searching for the suspect.

Several police officers were gathered around a grey pick up but it’s unknown at this time whether that was the vehicle dumped.

People working in the downtown reported to be feeling anxious about the incident in relation to Saturday’s brazen daytime shooting at Sandman hotel in Walnut Grove.
