The driver of a pickup truck was lucky to escape injury after a two-vehicle collision along 16 Avenue as the snow fell Friday morning.
The pickup was headed west when it veered into the oncoming lane and collided with a dump truck carrying a pup trailer, noted Langley Township fire department deputy chief Russ Jenkins.
“Luckily the dump truck driver was able to maintain control and pull to the side to avoid it,” Jenkins said. “There was an impact but it was minimal compared to what it could have been.”
The pickup, which was towing a utility trailer, crashed into the ditch on the south side of 16 Avenue just east of 227 Street.
When the information came in, Township fire department dispatched three apparatus with fear it was a head-on collision.
“Luckily no one was significantly injured,” Jenkins said.
This was the most serious of a multitude of accidents in the Township, due mostly to slippery conditions from the snow. For the most part, the accidents have been minor.
