The new legislature’s new Speaker has found himself learning on the job while exercising authority

In his first days as speaker, Abbotsford South MLA Darryl Plecas has found himself needing to learn each MLA’s riding while keeping decorum. Already he has had to tell members to be quiet when others are speaking, and – in the case of Abbotsford West MLA Mike de Jong – to not use props. And that was just Tuesday.
