DOUPE, Dorothy Mary – aged 88, of Langley, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the Langley Lodge.
She was born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan, the third daughter of Joseph and Emerance Lepine of nearby Bjorkdale. The family relocated to Vancouver when she was in her early teens, where she would attend King George Secondary in the city’s West End.
Throughout her life she had an easy smile and captivating laugh and brought joy and warmth to those around her, as well as possessing a great inner strength and sense of determination. Never having graduated, she worked hard towards it later in life, and received her High School diploma in 1984, followed a few years later by the earning of her Real Estate license.
She was also active in the community and was presented with a special honour for her years of service with the Meals On Wheels program.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters LaVonne Lockhart (Peter) of Vernon, and Lynda Napoli (Frank) of Surrey, as well as son Harry of Chilliwack; her grandchildren Shay Lockhart (Scott), Brett Lockhart (Joanne), Shane Morton and Carmen Morton; and great grandchildren Finlay, Benjamin, and Amelia. She is survived by her siblings Norman Lepine (Hazel), Elsie Bevan, and Joyce Linegar (Bob) and more than 50 nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Harry and siblings Doris, Leah, and Harry.
The family would like to offer its heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff of the Langley Lodge for their care during the recent years Dorothy resided there.
There will be a brief prayer service at 5:30 PM, Thursday, September 28, and the funeral service with reception to follow will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 29, both at St. Joseph’s Church, 20676 Fraser Hwy, Langley.
Burial to follow at Fort Langley Cemetery.
