January 14, 1946 – August 18, 2017
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Christina and Brad, and their children Sydney, Spencer, Sawyer and Selena, her son, and his fiance, Shane and Tanya, their daughter Lucy, her sister-in-law Judy, and her best friend Terry. She goes to reunite with her husband Syd, who passed January 10, 2013. Thank you to the staff at the Maple Ridge Seniors Village, and to all the doctors and specialists that took such great care of Mom.
Jill was born in Comox, and moved to Vancouver when she was 18. She met the love of her life, Syd, while living in Vancouver, and the two were married on Sept 23, 1967. They settled in Langley, where they started their family. Jill lived in Langley for 46 years, until her health pushed her to sell the family home and move to the Maple Ridge Seniors Village, which allowed her to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. She only lived there for 6 months, but she touched the lives of many of the residents and staff during her time there.
Jill was a bright light everywhere she went. All who met her, remember her as a someone always with a smile on her face, and who made people happy. Every job she had, she always left having made new life long friends with her co-workers. Her family and friends meant the world to Jill, and she always made certain to put a card, with a little money in it, into the mail for everyone’s birthday.
Her biggest joy in life was her grandchildren. At the time of her passing she had 4 grandchildren, and her 5th is due in February next year. Her grandchildren came first in her eyes. Whenever she was shopping, she always kept her eye out for the next gift with which she could spoil them.
Until we meet again Mom. We all love you so much. God has you in his hands and now you can watch us from above. You will be greatly missed.
The celebration of life will be held on Sept 23, 2017 @ 1:00 pm, on what would have been Jill and Syd’s 50th wedding anniversary, at Henderson’s Langley Funeral Home in Langley, BC.
In life, Jill was an avid animal lover, and has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to LEASH Animal Welfare Society. (http://www.leashsavinglives.com/)
