Lorena Hazel Strauss
March 22, 1922 – October 4, 2017
Hazel passed away peacefully at Magnolia Gardens Care Centre in Langley, B.C. She had a full life, passing at age 95 and out-living her Husband Leo Henry Strauss, who passed in 2015, as well as her Mother, Dad, brothers and Sisters.
She is survived by her Daughters Cathy (Lee), Sharon (Steve) and Sons Wayne (Tina) and David. She leaves Grandchildren Allison, Lindsey (Michelle), Allan (Shalon), Peter (Natascha), David, Charity and 13 Great Grand Children whom she was all very proud of.
Hazel is also survived by her 2 sister in-laws, Velna and Josephine.
Hazel was born in Indian Head Saskatchewan on March 22, 1922. She was a World War 2 Veteran, joining the Air Force in 1942.
After the War she moved to New Westminster B.C.where she took her Nursing Degree and Graduated from the Royal Columbian Hospital with the Class of 1950.
She then moved to Vancouver, where she met her husband Leo, and they married in 1951. The happy couple moved to Langley where they raised their family.
Hazel and Leo were involved in the Brookwood Senior Centre where they were life members. She was known to all for her excellent baking and kind heart. She never went anywhere without cookies and cake.
She enjoyed playing cards and she was a master of Crib – regularly beating all comers. She played until her final days.
