GREEN, Velma Eileen

Born March 9, 1922 in Bannerman Manitoba in Turtle Mountain Municipality. Eileen passed away very peacefully on July 28, 2009 at her home in Langley, leaving behind two sisters, Elva Neufeld of Killarney, Manitoba and Phyllis Harrison of Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was predeceased by her older siblings Arvilla Kilmurray and Arthur Green. Aunty Eileen will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Eileen served in the Canadian Women’s Army Corp and later worked as a Matron in a private girl’s school and dormitories on Salt Spring Island, Williams Lake, Hundred Mile and the North West Territories.

Eileen belonged to the Langley Legion Branch 21 for 38 years. She also belonged to the Senior Vets Association and the Fraser Valley Ex Service Women’s Group and was a tireless worker for all three, putting in many hours of work to help out wherever she was needed.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Langley Legion Branch 21 on August the 16, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. followed by tea. The family would like to give a special Thank You to Veteran Affairs Canada, Cornerstone Care Society, South Fraser Home Support and the Fraser Valley Health Authority.

Eileen will be buried in her home town of Killarney Manitoba on August 8, 2009.
