Most truck drivers today are not professionals
Editor: In Jody Rempel’s response to my comments (The Times, Jan. 28), I think she is missing the point. I believe a majority of the truck drivers today are not professionals.
Her stepdad may be one of the very few professionals, but there are so very few that they are lost in the crowd.
I was taken aback by the comments that only a moron applies the brakes in the Fraser Canyon, other than in an emergency. That scares the hell out of me. If a professional driver doesn’t apply the brakes, how does he slow down? The Jake brake isn’t nearly adequate for that.
