Taxpayers keep falling behind

Editor: Bob Robinson’s excellent letter in The Times (Feb 23) and Aldergrove Star raises several good points, not least of which is the fact that municipal employees’ wage increase of four per cent was much higher than that given to the thousands of us retired B.C. government employees, who received 1.7 per cent this year, and are having our retirement benefits reduced on an ongoing schedule.

We are still taxpayers and can no longer afford to keep falling further and further behind while our municipal taxes increase every year by some four to five per cent.

When elections come this fall, I believe Mayor Rick Green will have strong support for his stand against these increases. I just hope some like-minded citizens will stand up and run against the so-called “six-pack” whose time to be put out to pasture has arrived.

Win Bromley,

Langley
