Langley Events Centre, R.E. Mountain Secondary combine to hold great event

Editor: Last week, the Langley Events Centre hosted the boys and girls basketball playoffs for all the Grade 8 and junior aged teams. This two-day event was a big success, due to the efforts of Kirk Weiss and his Mountain Secondary Athletic Leadership class.

More than 150 student athletes were treated to an opportunity to play in a fantastic facility. The highlight for most athletes was a chance to play in the main arena.

Players on my team were thrilled that their names were announced on the arena sound system and their pictures were displayed on the main scoreboard. This obviously took a lot of work and effort to organize and run.

This is the second year Mountain Secondary has hosted this event. I would also like to thank Jason Winslade from the Township of Langley, who worked behind the scenes to make the facility available for this event, and all the other Events Centre staff who also helped out in a variety of ways.

Ivan Adrian,

Brookswood Secondary School

athletic director
