Spirit of the Horse Garden gets tidied up

Editor: On Sunday, Aug. 26, 10 Vintage Riders drove up to help me at the Spirit of the Horse Memorial Garden on 208 Street in Campbell Valley Regional Park.

They assisted in tidying up unnecessary green growth and falling leaves. Many thanks go out to their president Donna Morris, Susan Chatworth-Mustard, Vivian Harder, Rita Rawstron, Carolyn Hunter, Reta Eddilston, Donna Lee, Karen McGregor, Nanette Arsenoult and Bonnie Emanuels, who all wished to remember their dear horse companions.

There are over 300 horses’ names on bronze plaques, with different messages recalling the lives of their friends. It is believed the Spirit of the Horse Memorial Garden is the only one in the world uniting horses so closely with their owners. We are so proud to continue.

I would also like to thank Cedar Rim Nursery for the donation of plants in the spring.

Joy Richardson,

White Rock
