Letters to the Editor

‘Snail mail’ crawled across southern Africa

Editor: This is not intended as a complaint or a means of ridiculing the postal department. I know they handle a million pieces daily and one or two must go astray.

I received a phone call from my cousin in Cape Town on Oct. 3 to say that the letter I mailed her in March had just arrived.

I asked her to mail the envelope back to me, which I received Oct. 17.

We are both in our 80s and use snail mail. But in this case, did they have to send the snail via Lusaka, Zambia?
