Letters to the Editor

A poetic tribute to my mother

Editor: Mother’s Day was my first one without Mom. In early May, my beloved Mom lost her battle with cancer and slipped peacefully into eternity with Jesus.  Our family is broken-hearted, sad and grieving, while also feeling grateful that she is no longer in pain. I was moved to write two poems for my Mom and wanted to share them.

Mom on Earth                             Mom in Heaven

Beautiful baldness                      Gently shining Son

Fear and agonizing pain            Soft breeze blowing through her hair

Sorrow filled wet eyes                Joy overflowing

I am reminded that there is a season for everything.  This is a time to weep, and I am looking forward to a time to laugh.

In memory of Anne Louise Tyers
