TWU volleyball: Spartans tame Huskies in straight sets

The Saskatchewan Huskies were no match for the Trinity Western Spartans.

The visiting Spartans travelled to Saskatoon and proceeded to win in straight sets both nights to improve to 10-4 while dropping the Huskies to 1-13.

Trinity Western won 3-0 (25-14,25-23,25-19) and 3-0 (25-23,25-19,25-20).

On Saturday, Rudy Verhoeff led the team with 10 kills, five digs and three blocks, while Josh Doornenbal had nine kills and Derek Thiessen had eight kills.

Verhoeff was also prominent in Friday's win, finishing with 13 kills and four blocks.

Doornenbal added seven kills, while Marc Howatson chipped in with four kills and seven digs and Lucas Van Berkel had six kills, five digs and three blocks.

Ben Ball had a combined 70 set assists.

Next up for the fourth-ranked Spartans will be a pair of road matches against the Brandon Bobcats (7-7), who are ranked seventh in the country.
