Canada Winter Games: Skaters dance to gold

Langley’s Nikolas Wamsteeker, 14, and Richmond’s Jessica Jiang, 13,  teamed up to win the gold medal in the figure skating pre-novice dance category at the Canada Winter Games in Halifax last week.
The pair scored 13.42 in the foxtrot, nearly a point ahead of competition, and 13.16 in the tango, which was second. But any doubt for the gold was put to rest after the B.C. pair scored 42.45 in the free dance, more than three points ahead of second place.
Altogether, Jiang and Wamsteeker finished with 69.03 points, ahead of Ontario’s 65.19 and Alberta’s bronze score of 60.22.
