Champs crowned at Sportplex

With the North American roller hockey championships in Florida next month, 45 teams were at the Walnut Grove Sportsplex for the regional championships.

The teams were playing to determine their seedings for the championships in Florida, as their results at regionals would place them in certain categories: either platinum, gold or silver.

In the peewee (14 and under) final, it was the home side Westcoast Warriors 96 who went a perfect 6-0 and capped off the tourney with a convincing 8-1 win over the Warriors Outcasts.

The bantam (16 and under) final saw the Westcoast Warriors double up the North Shore Zulu 4-2.

The local Warriors Outcasts squad also prevailed in the squirt (12 and under) division, as they used solid puck possession to set up a quick strike offence in a 6-0 win over the North Shore Zulu-Warriors.

In the 10 and under mite division, Zulu scored a convincing 10-2 win over the Westcoast Warriors 2000, while in an all-Langley B final, WC Warriors Grey knocked off the WC Warriors Frisk 8-2.

In midget (18 and under) action, the Langley Raiders scored twice in the final minutes to edge North Vancouver’s Team Sauce 4-3.

And in the senior (18+) division, the Panthers (Victoria) won 4-1 over the Wolfpack.
