Updated: Rams linebacker honoured
An outstanding effort in the B.C. Football Conference semifinals has earned Langley Rams linebacker Arie Nakagawa both provincial and national honours.
The linebacker had 10 solo tackles, two assists, two special teams tackles and a forced fumble as the Rams upset the Okanagan Sun 31-29 at Kelowna's Apple Bowl.
His efforts earned him the BCFC defensive player of the week award and then the Canadian Junior Football League defensive player of the week award.
This is the second time Nakagawa earned player of the week honours, and earlier this month, he was named co-recipient of the league's most outstanding linebacker award.
The Rams, the third seed in the BCFC, face the top seed Vancouver Island Raiders on Oct. 22 at Nanaimo's Caledonia Park for the Cullen Cup, which is presented to the league champions of the junior football league (ages 18-22).
