Redhawks, Bobcats off to provincials

The D.W. Poppy Redhawks senior girls placed fourth at the AAA Fraser Valley championships and are off to provincials next week.

The Redhawks’ Marla McFee was named an all-star.

Poppy was fourth during the regular season and went 1-2 at the Valley championships, beating Abbotsford Collegiate in the opener before losing to top-ranked Seaquam in the semifinals and MEI in the bronze medal match.

The tournament was held at Seaquam.

They will be joined at provincials by the Brookswood Bobcats who placed fifth, beating the R.E. Mountain Eagles for the final spot.

The provincial championships will be held in Parksville from Dec. 1-3.
