Clippers sail past Rivermen

The Nanaimo Clippers doubled up the Langley Rivermen 4-2 in junior A BCHL action on Wednesday at the Langley Events Centre.

Brendan Forbes scored the eventual game-winner with a shorthanded goal with less than four minutes to go in the second period.

The goal was big as 39 seconds later, Evan Campbell struck back for Langley, cutting the lead to 3-2.

But Trevor Fitzgerald had the lone goal of the third, scoring late in the game.

Mike Tebbutt had the Rivermen's other goal, while Josh Bryan and Andrew Gladiuk tallied for Nanaimo.

Rivermen goalie James Barr was the second star after delivering a 38-save performance.

Up next for Langley is a pair of home games, Saturday against the Victoria Grizzlies at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. against the Trail Smoke Eaters.
