Huge win for Valley West Hawks
The Valley West Hawks got a much needed victory in their chase for a playoff spot.
The Hawks defeated the Greater Vancouver Canadians 3-1 on Saturday at the Langley Events Centre in B.C. Major Midget Hockey League action.
Ram Brar, Jordan Klimek and Mitchell Friesen scored for the Hawks. Klimek also had an assist.
But when the two teams met to complete the home-and-home series on Sunday, it was the Canadians prevailing 5-3 at the Ladner Leisure Centre.
Matthew Cox had a goal and an assist while Jacob Taylor and Danton Heinen had a goal apiece.
Klimek added two more assists and with his four points on the weekend, he leads the league in scoring for defencemen with eight goals and 30 assists.
With four games remaining, the Hawks (16-17-3) are one point back of the sixth and final playoff spot.
