Kodiaks fan Flames in opener

Game one went to the Aldergrove Kodiaks in a rout.

The Kodiaks extinguished the Ridge Meadows Flames early, pumping in four goals in the opening 20 minutes on their way to an 8-2 victory in game one of the junior B PIJHL best-of-seven playoff series on Monday at Aldergrove Arena.

And after the Flames scored twice in the first 1:01 of the second period to make things interesting, Aldergrove responded with another four-goal outburst to put the game well out of reach.

Twin brothers Spencer McHaffie (two goals, one assist) and Scott McHaffie (one goal, two assists) and Mitchell Guiel (one goal, two assists) led the way offensively with three points apiece, while Matthew Luongo, Stephen Ryan, Thomas Hardy and Daniel Higgs had a goal apiece.

Ross Baadsvik made 45 saves.
