Credo through to quarters

An opening round upset has the Credo Christian Kodiaks into the quarter-finals.

The Kodiaks, seeded 10th, used a dominating third quarter to defeat the No. 7 Duncan Christian Chargers 70-51 on Wednesday (March 7) on the opening day of the senior girls' Single A basketball championships in Prince George.

Credo Christian outscored the Chargers 21-9 in the third, turning a four-point halftime lead into a 16-point advantage.

Carolyn de Leeuw had 22 points, Kristen Shouten had 15 and Laura VanTil had 12 points.

The victory advances the Kodiaks to the quarter-finals where they face the second seed team, Cedars Christian.
