Record-breaking day for Langley's McNeill

It was quite the meet for eight-year-old Hugh McNeill.

Competing at the Langley Olympians Swim Club 10th annual long course meet, the young swimmer set eight new club records while winning six gold and two silver medals.

The meet was held earlier this month at the Walnut Grove Aquatic Centre.

His performance highlighted a great showing by the Olympians as the club’s swimmers combined to win 40 gold medals, 31 silver medals and 18 bronze medals.

Other top performances included Josh Kim, who won eight gold and Martha Metcalfe and Justin Schramm, who both won five golds. Metcalfe also won a silver while Schramm added four silver and two bronze medals. Robyn Nakano won four gold, two silver and a bronze.

Other gold medals included: Michael MacDonald, Hillary Metcalfe and Josie Field with two apiece, and Siobhan Board, Chelsea Borrowdale, Brayden Kells, Renae Ledoux, Ryan Moloney and Pearl Schramm with one apiece.

Hugh McNeill, age 8, broke eight club records at the meet in the 8 & under 400 free 6:38.64, 100 breast 2:03.77, 200 back 3:17.29, 200 IM 3:29.14, 50 free 41.79, 100 free 1:32.31, 100 back 1:35.22 and 200 free 3:13.84.
