Cascades' Shopland wins rookie award

Mackenzie Shopland was named rookie of the year for the women’s soccer team at the University of the Fraser Valley year-end athletic banquet.

Shopland, a 2011 Walnut Grove Secondary graduate, was a first-year midfielder for the Cascades.

The banquet was held on April 4.

The Langley Xtreme are off to a solid start.

The U12 girls B fastball team started the regular season with a pair of victories in league play over Fleetwood and Cloverdale.

And they followed that up by winning two out of three games over the weekend at an Icebreaker tournament in Maple Ridge.
