Angels top Blaze in season opener
With extra innings looming, the Coquitlam Angels scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to defeat the Langley Senior Blaze by a 3-1 score.
The game was played at McLeod Park on May 23 in the season opener for the Blaze team, which consists of players home for the summer from their collegiate teams.
The Blaze led 1-0 after two innings thanks to a Bob Foerster RBI single, which scored Tyler Barlow.
But the Angels got that run back in the fifth and then won the game in the seventh with a pair of runs.
Jesse Peters had a no-decision on the mound for Langley, leaving after six innings of three-hit, one-run ball. He also struck out seven.
The Blaze are in Coquitlam on May 27 for a doubleheader against the Angels at Mundy Park.
