Spartans land NFL all-star
The Trinity Western Spartans have landed an NFL star.
Larry Fitzgerald, one of the National Football League's leading receivers, will be the guest speaker at this year's sold-out TWU Spartans golf tournament.
It is being held June 6 at the Westwood Plateau Golf and Country Club in Coquitlam.
Fitzgerald has spent his entire NFL career with the Arizona Cardinals and the 28-year-old has caught for 9,615 yards and 73 touchdowns in his eight seasons.
He has been named to the NFL's Pro Bowl six times.
This is the 18th annual TWU golf tournament, which is sponsored by Wireless Wave, and serves as a fundraiser for student-athlete scholarships and endowments.
In 1998, the first year of the tournament, $30,000 was raised. And that has increased every year since then, with $572,000 generated last year.
Altogether, $2,730,000 has been raised.
