Garrett Billings snapped a 7-7 tie with 61 seconds remaining, clinching first place for the Langley Thunder as they defeated the Burnaby Lakers 8-7.

The victory was on July 27 at the Bill Copeland Arena in the Thunder's Western Lacrosse Association regular season finale.

Langley finished the season with a mark of 12-6-0 and this marked the first time in franchise history the Thunder enter the post-season as the top-seed. They are also the defending WLA champions.

Langley led 4-3 after one period and 6-4 after 40 minutes. But Burnaby scored three of the next four goals to tie the game at seven, setting up the stage for Billings' heroics.

He finished the game with a goal and three assists while Lewis Ratcliff had two goals and four helpers.

Joel McCready, Nik Bilic, Shayne Jackson, Athan Iannucci and Alex Turner each had a goal.

Brodie MacDonald made 44 saves as Langley was outshot 51-37.
