Spartans fall in quarter-finals
The Trinity Western Spartans fell in the quarter-finals at the U23 Pan American Cup.
The Spartans women's volleyball team was representing Canada at the tournament in Lima, Peru, and they lost in straight sets on Thursday (Sept. 6) to Argentina.
Argentina won the first two sets by identical 25-19 scores and then took the final set 25-16 at Miguel Grau Coliseum.
The loss drops the Spartans into the consolation bracket where they will battle for fifth place.
"We expected to have a better game against Argentina, even though we knew they were a very strong team," said Spartans coach Ryan Hofer.
"They have a very strong attack, but that's part of our learning process."
