TWU Women move up to the No. 3 spot with pair of wins
After a pair of dominating weekend wins, including a 6-0 victory over Lethbridge and a 6-1 triumph over Calgary, the Trinity Western women’s soccer team moved up to No. 3 in the second national coaches’ poll of the campaign.
The Spartans had an impressive weekend as they outscored the opposition 12-1 and outshot the opposition 59-4.
After opening the season at No. 4, the Spartans wins helped move them past Queen’s into No. 3, as the Gaels dropped from No. 1 to No. 4.
Trinity Western will face a stiff test this weekend when it hosts No. 8 UBC Sept. 15 at Rogers Field in Langley. Game time is 5 p.m. and can be seen live at www.canadawest.tv.
The Montreal Carabins are the new team to beat in women’s soccer, as they moved to the No. 1 spot.
