Pilots edge Kodiaks
Luke Venema's late first period goal stood up as the winner as the Abbotsford Pilots edged the Aldergrove Kodiaks 2-1.
Venema gave the visiting Pilots a 2-0 lead on Nov. 28 at the Aldergrove Arena in junior B Pacific Junior Ice Hockey League action.
Joel Atkinson had opened the scoring for the Pilots.
The lone Aldergrove tally was a power play marker from Daniel Higgs with four minutes remaining in the third period.
Kodiaks goaltender Mark Menicucci earned second star honours after stopping 39 shots.
Aldergrove fell to 10-11-1-0 on the season.
The team is next in action on Nov. 30 when they travel to Maple Ridge's Planet Ice to face the Ridge Meadows Flames. The game is the start of a home-and-home series as the two squads will also play at the Aldergrove Arena on Dec. 5.
