In a battle of two of the top 5 ranked teams in the province, it was the White Rock Christian Warriors out-lasting the Walnut Grove Gators 86-80 in double overtime.

The two senior boys AAA basketball rivals were playing in the championship final of the Terry Fox Legal Beagle basketball tournament in Port Coquitlam on Saturday night.

The Gators’ Sam Shin was named both the defensive player of the tournament and a second team all-star.

Joining him on the all-star squad were Jadon Cohee and Paul Getz, who were both first team selections, and Josh Mayorga, who was on the second team.

The Gators had defeated the host Terry Fox Ravens 74-41 in the semifinals after opening with a victory over the Vancouver College Fighting Irish.
