The Brookswood Bobcats won going away in their opening game at the Fraser Valley regional championships, while the Walnut Grove Gators face a do-or-die game.

The Bobcats senior girls basketball team, the top seed in the 16-team Fraser Valley AAA draw, won convincingly, 93-34 over the 16th-seed North Surrey Spartans on Feb. 18 at Brookswood Secondary.

They now face the No. 8 Yale Lions on Feb. 19 at BSS. The winner advances to the Fraser Valley championship semifinals, which will be played on Feb. 22 at the Langley Events Centre.

For the Gators, who are seeded 11th, they face a must-win game against the No. 14 Chilliwack Storm. The game is Feb. 19 at Maple Ridge Secondary.

Walnut Grove lost 82-72 to the No. 6 MEI Eagles on Feb. 18.

A loss would end the Gators season, but if they win, they make the championship round and face another must-win game against either No. 4 Fleetwood Park or No. 5 W.J. Mouat. That game would be Feb. 21 at Fleetwood Park Secondary.
