All-star Pearce leads Gators to fourth place at Fraser Valleys

A fourth-place finish at the Fraser Valley championships has landed the Walnut Grove Gators a spot at the upcoming Grade 8 boys provincial basketball invitational championships in Pitt Meadows.

The Gators, who were seeded fifth at the start of the Fraser Valleys, won their first three games to make it to the semifinals, before dropping their final two contests to finish in fourth place.

Walnut Grove defeated Sands 67-24, North Surrey 47-24 and Holy Cross 48-27.

They lost to MEI 59-46 in the semifinals and Delta 62-50 in the third-place game.

The Gators' Tyler Pearce earned an all-star award.
