Aldergrove Vipers finish season with win for KidSport
For the U18 Aldergrove Vipers their final season together means their teamwork has come to an end but not without giving back to their community.
Throughout the course of the year the team players and families fundraised for KidSport and raised $830, the team’s most successful total.
It started out back in 2011 as a way to show support to families on the Vipers team who were recently diagnosed with breast cancer. They held a “$1 goal/$1 shutout” fundraiser that quickly raised $700, which was donated by the families affected to various areas of cancer support. Then last season their fundraiser donated $520 to the Aldergrove Food Bank.
Many of the players have been playing soccer together since kindergarten and are now graduating from high school this month.
"It’s been amazing to watch the players develop over those years, from bee-hive to strong, strategic players on the field," said a parent, Michelle Hall. "The passion for the sport has been shown, and being able to give back to youths in the community is extremely satisfying for the Vipers."
The team’s successes over the years include;
U13 – FV District Champions
U15 – 5 District League Champions
U16 – FV District Champions & represented FV in the Boys Provincial B Cup
U17 – 5 District League Champions and FV District Champions
U18 – FV District Champions
