T-Birds drop pair

Fraser Valley faces three games in three cities to close BC Major Midget Hockey League season

The Fraser Valley Thunderbirds need a perfect weekend if they hope to gain home-ice advantage in the first round of the BC Major Midget Hockey League playoffs.

The T-Birds dropped a pair of games over the weekend, losing 7-4 and 4-3 in a home-and-home series with the Greater Vancouver Canadians, the team they are in a dogfight with for fourth place.

The Canadians are 22-13-3-2 for 49 points while the Thunderbirds are 20-13-3-1 for 44 points with three games to go,

In the opener, Liam Visram had a hand in all four goals while Baxter Anderson scored twice and Justin Plett had a goal and an assist and Brodi Stuart chipped in with a pair of helpers in the 7-4 defeat. Justin Hargrave had the other goal.

Plett, Stuart and Anderson also scored in the 4-3 loss.

The Thunderbirds have the daunting task of three games in three days in three different cities.

The team is in Kamloops today (Friday) for a make-up game against the Thompson Blazers before they face the Vancouver Northwest Giants on Saturday at the North Shore Winter Club.

They close the regular season with a game in Abbotsford against the Giants.
