Xtreme blast competition at Spring Sizzle

Langley girls softball team allows combined six runs in six games to take tournament title

Defence led the way as the Langley Xtreme 05 ripped apart the competition at the Kelowna Fastball Spring Sizzle this past weekend.

The rep B girls fastball team allowed a combined six runs in capturing top spot at the tournament.

That included back-to-back shutouts in the semifinals and championship game. Langley defeated the PoCo Ravens 7-0 in the gold-medal game while beating the Kelowna Heat 11-0 in the semifinals.

In round-robin play, the Xtreme blasted the Calgary Adrenaline 22-0, doubled the Vancouver Wildcats 05 by a 6-3 score and won 5-1 against the Richmond Islanders 05.

And in the qualifying game to make the final four, Langley needed to rally from a 2-1 deficit against the Cloverdale Fury 05 to rattle off 11 straight runs to win 12-2.
