City’s largest employer expands

City council gives preliminary approval to CKF application to build addition

The CKF plant on 200 Street — already the largest employer in Langley City — is about to get even bigger after council approved expansion plans.

The largest employer in Langley City is about to get bigger.

CKF Inc. wants to add 20,000-square-feet (1,858 square metre) of warehouse space to its corrugated paper packaging plant at 5850 Production Way.

Council approved the development permit for the proposed expansion at the Monday (March 21) meeting.

The next step in the process is to secure a building permit, which will require a more detailed design from the applicant.

The proposed development would bring in $61,000 in City Development Cost Charge (DCC) payments.

An online profile says the factory, which makes moulded pulp and foam products, such as disposable plates, egg and fruit cartons, employs 150 people at the Langley address, making it the largest employer in the City.
