BC Renaissance Festival returns this weekend

Event will be held at Pacific Country Stables on 16 Avenue this year.

Visitors will live the revelry at the seventh annual BC Renaissance Festival, which is coming to a new location in Langley Thursday through Sunday (July 18 through 21).

The epic weekend event is coming to Pacific Country Stables, located at 21852-16 Avenue.

Last year it was held at Thunderbird Show Park.

The new venue will be host to unique 16th century-themed activities for all ages throughout the entire weekend.

Featured attractions will include the “The Knights of Hazelnut Grove,” Clydesdale horse show, actors playing out Renaissance scenes complete with royalty, pirates and plenty of sword play.

This festival  is a combination walk-about, outdoor “theatre in the crowd” with historically-based, fantasy-inspired fun and games for all ages including a petting zoo, stage performers, music and dance, food, shopping and more.

Once you step through the gates you are immediately transported to the 1500s Shire of Steller’s Grove, where King Henry VIII makes court with his wife Queen Catherine of Aragon. The local law enforcement of the Sheriff and the Deputy are ever on the lookout for notorious Captain Charity and her mischievous Jade Dragon Pirate crew.

From July 19 to 21, gates open at 9 a.m. and close at 9 p.m. Admission is $18 for adults, $17 for youth and family rates are available.
