Team ‘Women United’ from the Total Makeover Challenge is hosting a fun, inspirational fundraiser next week.

Join them on Thursday, April 5 for Together We Stand, an evening of music with Aldergrove band Her Brothers.

Taking place at the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium in Abbotsford, the event includes a concert, light refreshments, auction and 50/50 draw, with proceeds going to Shape Your World Society and Dress for Success Vancouver.

The fundraiser is part of the second round of the Langley Total Makeover Challenge, an annual contest hosted by Shape Your World Society that gives 30 women an opportunity to improve their lives in a dramatic way. The women receive personal growth seminars, financial makeovers, business skills, healthy lifestyle workshops, nutrition and exercise advice, public speaking lessons, teamwork opportunities and leadership training, and all while giving back to the community.

Shape Your World Society’s goal is to empower women, and each year, participants create their own fundraiser to raise money for the next year’s challenge, with 10 per cent going to a charity of their choosing.

Dress for Success Vancouver’s mission is to economically empower women by providing suiting and support for women re-entering the workforce.

Together We Stand is organized by contestants Tamaka Fisher, Cathy Hebert, Liz Davis, Lisa Wall, Alexis Gail Ellis, Bernadette Saville and Mikaela Harvey.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online at

Doors open at 6:15 p.m., event starts at 7 p.m.
